Understanding Georgia's Window Tint Laws

At Tint Club Duluth, we believe that informed customers make the best choices. That's why we want to help you understand the window tint laws in the state of Georgia. Being aware of these regulations can ensure that you make a decision that not only enhances your vehicle's style and comfort but also keeps you on the right side of the law.

Windshield Tinting:

In Georgia, it's important to note that the windshield cannot have any material or glazing that causes more than a 32% total light transmittance. However, a non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield.

Front Side Windows:

The law allows a minimum of 32% VLT (Visible Light Transmission) on front side windows. This means that you can have tint on these windows as long as it allows at least 32% of light to pass through.

Back Side Windows and Rear Window:

There are no specific VLT requirements for the back side windows or the rear window. You can choose to tint them as dark as you prefer.

Side Mirrors:

Georgia law requires both side mirrors if the rear window is tinted. This is an important safety consideration.

Medical Exemptions:

In some cases, individuals with specific medical conditions may obtain exemptions to these tinting laws for health reasons. However, this requires approval from the Georgia Department of Public Safety and is not a straightforward process.

Please keep in mind that window tint laws can change, so it's always a good idea to verify the current regulations with the Georgia Department of Public Safety or another official source. Additionally, ensuring that your window tint complies with state laws is essential to avoid potential legal issues. At Tint Club Duluth, we are committed to helping you make the right choices for your vehicle while staying within the legal boundaries.
